Indaba stand hijacked

THOSE wanting to do business with Rossair at Indaba 2000 would be surprised to find that the air charter company's stand number 107 at the ICC is empty. The reason: The vehicle transporting its stand from Johannesburg was allegedly hijacked. Group sales and marketing manager, Morne du Plessis, says the truck belonging to the shop-fitting company hired by Rossair left Johannesburg on Friday night en-route to Durban, but failed to arrive as planned on Saturday morning. He says neither the driver nor the truck have been recovered. "This is a very unfortunate incident and is sure to cost us potential business, especially from our overseas clients. We apologise to all our clients that we do not have a visual presence at this year's Indaba, but rest assured we will be back with a vengeance next year!" Du Plessis added that he will be attempting to network as much as possible for now, but even if the display stand was found, it would be too late for Indaba this year. (Miguel de Sousa)
