Indigo Bay prepares for cyclone

INDIGO Bay is battening down the hatches in preparation for the tropical cyclone heading toward the Mozambique coast. John McMillan, Rani Resorts’ md, has told TNN that although the present path of the storm indicates it should not hit Indigo Bay directly when it makes landfall, which is expected on Thursday, provisions have been made, and heavy rains and wind are expected. Guests are leaving the resort, and airlines are not guaranteeing services to Vilanculos beyond today. McMillan said that some guests with bookings over this period are being relocated to Rani’s more northerly resorts (Matemo, Medjumbe and Pemba Beach), while others are rescheduling, and those who are date-bound will be accommodated at game lodges. “By Sunday, it’ll be over, and it will be business as normal from next week,” he said.
