THE death of Legacy Hotels & Resorts md, Bruno Corte - after an armed robbery in Woolworths at the Campus Square Shopping Centre in Melville, Johannesburg on Saturday - has left the industry in shock at the loss of one of its leading members. A source at Legacy told TNN that the unfortunate demise of Corte had hit the group hard, as it is a very close-knit organisation. The company will be issuing a formal statement at a later stage His experience in the industry, after completing his studies at a Swiss hotel school, includes a 23-year stint with Southern Sun. He was managing director at that hotel chain for ten of the 23 years. At the time of publication, the robbers had not been apprehended. Corte is survived by his wife Gail, four children, three grandchildren and his parents. His family describes him as a "fair, intelligent man dedicated to his family". (Adéle Mackenzie)
