ZUURBERG Mountain Inn in the Eastern Cape will be offering full day, "off road" scenic tours incorporating the mountains of the nearby Addo National Park as of May 3, reports owner and manager, Henri Alant. The 10-hour long 'Addo Wilderness Experience' - operated daily on request - will be conducted in 4x4 vehicles and cost R750 per person. This all-inclusive price includes breakfast at Zuurberg Mountain Inn before departure, snacks and 'viewpoint' lunch en route and the company of a qualified driver and guide. "The drive takes in five different types of vegetation," says Alant. "starting in the wilderness portion of Greater Addo, renowned for its magnificent scenery. It is a bird watchers' paradise, and sighting of species such as the Knysna Lourie are not uncommon. It is also home to large numbers of antelope as well as leopard and black rhino." The area was also of great importance during the late Anglo-Boer War period and visitors can still see the remnants of many old wagons used during this period. Alant also reports that Zuurberg was awarded a four-star South African Bureau of Standards' Crystal grading just a month ago. (Elizabeth Sheridan)
