InterContinental Airport arrivals lounge extended

THE InterContinental Airport Sun, situated within the Johannesburg International Airport complex, has opened its International Arrivals Lounge to all Premier Club members, irrespective of the airline they are flying on or the class of ticket they hold. There is also a Premier Club International Arrivals Lounge at Cape Town International and lounges in domestic terminals at the airports in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. Says Rupert Lawlor, commercial director of Rennies Travel, which has the management contract for the lounges: “The philosophy behind our Premier Club lounges is that, for a minimal fee, economic class travellers can still get facilities that are of a world class standard and are comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable.” The lounge features 11 cubicles with showers, hand basins and toilets, a valet service and shoe shine, fax, photocopying and Internet connections, among others. In addition to air travellers, says Lawson, there is a growing popularity among small tour groups of 20 to 40 people to use the arrivals lounge to allow strangers to get acquainted before boarding a flight for their holiday tour. “Apart from South African tourists going overseas, tour groups of up to 40 people from different continents also use the lounge as a rendezvous for their holiday in South Africa,” concluded Lawson.
