FEBRUARY 7 is the date, exactly a year ago, that the floods caused millions of damage to the Kruger National Park (KNP) and Skukuza was the worst hit.
To commemorate the day, the chairman of the board of South African National Parks, Murphy Morobe, unveiled a plaque at Skukuza Camp on Wednesday to coincide with the opening of the 13 newly constructed river huts at the camp.
Spokesperson for the KNP, William Mabasa, told Travel Now the plaque thanks President Thabo Mbeki for the government's contribution of R37m to restore infrastructure to the park.
An amount of R3,3m was used to restore Skukuza Camp.
