Lake Natron Camp is set to rebuild after a severe storm destroyed more than 70% of the property last month.
The camp was established by Founders Åke Lindstrom and Nangini Lukumay to provide a direct income stream to the Ngare Sero village. The destruction has resulted in a loss of income for the local community supported by the camp.
“At some point you have to turn a bad situation into a good one. We decided to set up a fundraiser to support current projects in the village. It doesn’t replace the camp but it does replace the income we would have generated. We have the blueprint for Natron version 4 so we’ll build back stronger right away and get this camp, its awesome activities and treks back online before our busy season,” said Lindstrom.
Reconstruction plans are underway with the camp targeting reopening before the start of its peak season on June 1.
