KERSAF Investments, a leisure holding company with a stake in Sun International South Africa, has expressed interest in establishing a business and tourism complex in Angola’s capital, Luanda. According to Philip Georgas, Sun International’s director of resorts, Kersaf has expressed interest in expanding its brand to Angola and is now waiting to hear from the Angolan government. Georgas says the process is at a “very premature” stage. Commenting on Kersaf Investment’s interest in the country, Goergas said: “Luanda is a business centre of note, which has interest from the US market for oil, interest from the South African market for diamonds and interest from the Portuguese market for agriculture.” Although Georgas is not sure when to expect a response from the Angolan authorities, he is confident that the company will do “very well” in Luanda. “We have a brand that’s strong enough and we are going to take advantage of this,” he concluded. Georgas says the company is now in the market to expand its brand and is looking at several other possibilities in Africa. (Natalia Thomson)
