AN evening of mampoer and Herman Charles Bosman marked the official launch of CC Africa’s newest lodge – the Madikwe Safari Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve in North West. The launch, at the Elephant House at the Johannesburg Zoo, saw guests being transported back in time by Oom Schalk Lourens, one of Bosman’s most well-known characters, by famous South African actor, Patrick Mynhardt. Mynhardt recreated days gone by on the Marico plains, setting the scene for the lodge, which is situated near to the Marico River and overlooks the Dwarsberg and Rant van Tweedepoort mountain ranges. The lodge, described as ‘fresh and funky’, features 16 suites, with air conditioning, en suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and private plunge pools. Guest areas include sitting areas, library and interpretative centre, covered indoor and outdoor sitting areas, boma and safari shop. CC Africa also announced at the launch that another one of its properties, Londolozi in the Sabi Sands, has been awarded the first-ever Relais & Chateaux Environment Award. (Lucy Siebert)
