TNN’S SISTER paper, TNW reports in its November 19 issue that Maiden Air has been selling tickets to the public for its flights between the UK and South Africa without yet obtaining a foreign operator’s permit to fly to SA, or having yet made application to London’s Stansted Airport for a licence. Asata has advised travel agents not to make bookings with any carrier that didn’t have the required licences and paperwork in place. However, it added that it should not be assumed that any new entrant into the marketplace would not adequately fulfil requirements. TNW also reports that Maiden Air has applied to Asata for membership. For more on this story, see TNW. (Max Marx)
