Motswari awarded Fair Trade certification

MOTSWARI Private Game Reserve has become the 21st tourism establishment to achieve Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) certification. The FTTSA trademark is awarded to tourism businesses that adhere to criteria such as fair wages and working conditions and respect for human rights, culture and environment. Jennifer Seif, FTTSA executive director, says: “The key reason for Motswari’s inclusion in the FTTSA portfolio is found in its dual commitment to staff and neighbouring communities.” According to Seif, Motswari has made investments in community health and education and also maintains a ‘family-friendly’ staff village, which she considers to be a “critical strategy for combating HIV and Aids in the safari lodge industry”.
