THE annual Mabalingwe Lion Man Mountain Bike race is to be held on May 20. More than 1 200 cyclists are expected to participate in either the easier 35km or the more strenuous 80km race. The race takes place within the boundaries of the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve and offers a biking experience through ravines, deep sand drifts, rocky downhillls and cliffs. The route comprises mainly game viewing roads, but there are single-tracks where riders will have to cope with twists and turns through dense bushes. A cash prize to the value of R10 000 is up for grabs as well as other prizes to the value of R20 000. Registrations can be made online at www.entrytime.com and only pre-entries are allowed this year.
