THE Namibia Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication has been authorised to negotiate that Namibia be established as the headquarters of the African Civil Aviation Authority (Afro-CAA). This decision was taken at the 23rd meeting of the Namibian Cabinet Ministers on Wednesday, September 5. Cabinet also approved the report of the Presidential Commission of Enquiry into Transnamib Holdings Limited - which incorporates Namibia's luxury train, Desert Express. Cabinet also mandated the newly-constituted Board to implement the report. Among others, it resolved that no major financial costs would be incurred during the period of restructuring, cautioning the new interim Board to rather reduce costs and minimise duplication of efforts. The Commission of Enquiry into the activities, management and operations of Transnamib Holdings Limited was launched on February 26 this year. (Adéle Mackenzie)
