RESPECTED and widely known hotelier, Jonathan Ellway became the new general manager of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (VFSL) on November 1, while Andy Conn, who has headed up the operational management at VFSL since mid 1998, is now regional manager for the VFSL Tourism Group. In this position Conn will continue to play an integral part in the resort's affairs. He has assumed direct responsibility for the 37 Lokuthula Lodge timeshare units, the group's popular ethnic experience: The Boma - Place of Eating, and numerous other projects the group is undertaking in the area. These include a handmade paper business, merchandising outlets and an offshoot take-away version of The Boma. Conn will also take part in community affairs and local marketing initiatives, allowing Ellway to focus entirely on Victoria Falls Safari Lodge itself. Ellway, who recently ran Matetsi Game Lodge, is expected to create a highly personalised and exclusive game lodge environment at the Lodge - which will undergo a major product enhancement and repositioning exercise during 2002.
