SCANDINAVIAN tour operator, MyTravel, has announced it will launch flights between Arlanda Airport in Stockholm and Cape Town from November. The operator’s air charter company, Ving, will operate an Airbus A330-200 with 49 business-class and 311 economy-class seats on a return flight once every two weeks from November 7 over a period of 16 weeks. “South African authorities have already confirmed that slots will be approved by the end of May and that our traffic rights will be granted in mid-October,” says My Travel spokesperson, Torben Andersen. “We see great demand for South Africa and Cape Town. It’s an up-and-coming destination in Scandinavia and it is becoming increasingly popular. However, there is no comfortable flight connection available at present. Ving will be the first to fly direct from Stockholm to Cape Town,” says Andersen. Natalia Thomson (nataliat@nowmedia.co.za)
