The Western Cape has marked Tourism Month 2026 with the launch of the Green Piketberg Route 366 connecting Goedverwacht, Piketberg, Wittewater and Redelinghuys.
Launched in Goedverwacht on September 2, the route brings together food, agriculture, heritage, nature and community-based experiences with focus on ensuring that tourism spending benefits local communities, businesses and the environment.
Experiences along the route include community gardens, farm-to-table offerings, artisanal food producers and cultural heritage attractions.
Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism Ivan Meyer said the route demonstrates how tourism could create shared value for communities, the environment and the economy.
“By supporting regenerative tourism, we are building destinations that are authentic, sustainable and inclusive while creating opportunities for small businesses, farmers and communities to benefit directly from visitor spending,” he said.
