THE capital city of Namibia, Windhoek, recently opened its newly revamped Tourist Information Office in Post Street Mall.
In his opening address, the Mayor of Windhoek, Martin Shipanga, said this confirmed the city's commitment to tourism and the development of facilities to support the industry in the capital.
He also stressed the importance of tour operators' support of the capital city.
Meanwhile, in an effort to revive tourism to the north eastern region of Rundu which borders Angola and also has main roads leading to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the North Eastern Business Forum (NEBF) was formed and recently launched a publicity campaign from Katima Mulilo, "The Forgotten Jewel of Namibia".
A spokesperson for the newly formed NEBF says 95% of the lodges in the Rundu region are operational, boasting occupancy rates of 60% and higher.
"Our main aim is to provide regular information on the region, from the attractions to accommodation facilities available."
