Protea Hotel Lusaka in Zambia will increase capacity from 100 to 237 rooms with the construction of a new wing.
The wing is expected to be completed by February next year.
According to Protea, the decision follows increased demand for business travel. “Zambia, like many economies in Africa, is showing phenomenal growth and as business expands so does the need for accommodation with a hotel brand that is known and trusted across Africa,” said Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for the Protea Hospitality Group.
The new wing will follow the design of the existing hotel and amenities will include a restaurant, bar, pool, free WiFi, satellite television and in-room work stations.
The extension of Protea Hotel Lusaka is part of the group’s expansion across Africa, which will cost an estimated US$100 million (R991 million) and includes new hotels in Rwanda and Ghana.
