Obituary: Owner of NBK Travel Services – Collin Thomas

Collin Thomas, Owner of NBK Travel Services, died on July 17 at the age of 58.

He has left his wife, Lorraine, three children; Natasha, Byron and Kathlene, and six grandchildren. “He was an amazing father and a loving grandfather,” said Byron, adding that words couldn’t explain how much his father loved his mother.

Thomas started his career in tourism in 1999 and built NBK Travel Services from the ground up. “I think his proudest moment was when he bought his first vehicle,” said Byron. Today NBK Travel Services owns an extensive fleet of luxury coaches and has a team of more than 30 permanent staff.

“He made a big impact in the tourism industry with the number of tourists he brought into the country and the quality service he offered. I don’t think he would accept anything less,” said Byron. Kathlene agreed that he was truly passionate about his business – from his drivers to his clients.

She recalled her father’s passion for travel and how insistent he was on family holidays and sharing those memories with his children. “We always had to go away as a family and spend that special time together.”

Collin’s children described their father as an outgoing, friendly presence who was always laughing. “He would talk to other people in the shops more than he’d talk to us. He was that kind of person,” said Kathlene.

She added that her father had been a mentor to many in the industry, guiding young people in their careers and building meaningful relationships. “There weren’t many people in the tourism industry who didn’t know him, or know of him,” added Byron.
