PORT Elizabeth will host the Ironman triathlon competition in March 2005, becoming the 17th city in the world - and the first in Africa - to host this huge competition. The Nelson Mandela Metro has committed itself to the international event with a cheque of R250 000 - a first instalment towards the R1,5m needed to host the event. Over 1 000 participants from all over the world are expected to flock into the friendly city to take part in the competition. (Miguel de Sousa)
