Sun International has appointed Megan Arendse as Convention Centre Manager of its flagship resort, Sun City.
Raul de Lima, Sun City General Manager said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Megan as Convention Centre Manager.”
Arendse enjoys the fact Sun City is a multi-property environment with varied product offerings, commenting: “I have also enjoyed the warm welcome I have received from everyone and I am proud and honoured to be leading a state-of-the-art, beautifully designed Convention Centre.”
She was previously a key player in opening up the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in 2003, and gained 12 years’ experience in strategic management, heading up operations and commercial departments respectively. She also played a significant role in contributing to the organisation’s consistent profitability and positioning the centre and Cape Town as a world-class venue as a business events destination. In addition, she has been a Director on local industry boards in the conference and exhibition industry.
Arendse received her post-graduate qualification in Management from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town and was recognised as one of the top 40 women in MICE two years ago.
Emperors Palace has appointed Rekha Sohun as General Manager of Hospitality.
Sohun will be responsible for providing support to all hospitality departments, after gaining experience in many senior positions at various hotel groups across southern Africa.
