Poll position: comment

LAST week we wanted to know whether the tourism industry’s facilities are designed with disabled visitors in mind. Of the respondents, only 3% said that most buildings and stadiums are totally accessible for disabled visitors, while 44% said that although some newer facilities do accommodate all visitors, major upgrades need to be made in order to make SA totally disable friendly. The majority of respondents, 53%, said that SA is generally not at all geared towards disabled tourists and public transport, in particular, needs a re-haul. This week we want to know where the industry’s commitment to transformation really is, following the focus on the topic at the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (Satsa) AGM recently. Do you have Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) partners on board in your business who have real ownership and buy in? Are you making a real effort to transform your business and the industry as a whole? Let us know by clicking on the block on the left. (Lucy Siebert)
