THE Principal of the Durban campus of the International Hotel School (IHS), a division of the Three Cities Hospitality Group, has been invited to lecture at the renowned Blue Mountain Hotel School in New South Wales, Australia. Thigam Nathoo has been asked to lecture on the topics of tourism and front office management, just two of the many courses offered by the IHS. Nathoo is currently studying for her masters degree in higher education and had approached the Blue Mountain Hotel School to ask if she could use them as her case study. They responded by not only granting her permission to do so, but offering free board and lodging if she was willing to lecture for a period of five weeks as well. "I jumped at the chance, of course," says Nathoo. "This really is a tremendous opportunity and I am thrilled the IHS was able to spare me for this time. The Blue Mountain Hotel School is internationally renowned for the calibre of graduates it produces. This opportunity will give me first-hand knowledge of the way their school is run, as well as their academic and practical programme - something to bring back to our students in our three campuses, Durban, Cape Town and Sandton." The International Hotel School is a division of the Three Cities Group, and as part of its commitment to the development of staff, the HIS is paying her airfare and has sanctioned the sabbatical.
