Public to get a sneak preview of convention centre

THE Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will throw open its doors to the general public this Saturday, May 24, to allow Capetonians an opportunity to experience the world-class structure first hand. CTICC md, Dirk Elzinga, said the open day would take place from 09h00 to 16h00 and access is free. He urged the public to join in the day of fun and festivity and to witness the culmination of years of planning and two years of construction. "We are seeing more and more local bookings at the centre which is very exciting for us because we want the people of the city and the province to take ownership of the Centre; after all, it is because of them that we have the centre in the first place. We have had tremendous positive spin surrounding the number of international conference bookings and the huge exhibitions/trade fairs that have been booked, and it is good to now see that local bookings are coming into their own," said Elzinga.
