R280m Limpopo casino finally set to open

LIMPOPO'S new R280m safari-themed Meropa Casino and Entertainment World finally opens in the province's capital, Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg), this week. Casino spokesman Duncan Pollock confirmed the casino and linked entertainment centre would open for business on Thursday. "The casino is designed to draw international tourists to the province with a series of really unique attractions," he said. The casino boasts 250 slot machines and 12 gaming tables and is open 24 hours a day as well as the 'Wild Phingz' with its bird, butterfly, reptile and snake parks. "The casino also has a hotel with 102 rooms, a restaurant and bar," Pollock said. The entertainment world boasts an adult golf course and a craft market selling local handwork, jewelry and sculptures. "People will be entertained by traditional dancers and can visit traditional healers in the lapa," Pollock said. (African Eye News Service)
