Reconstruction at KNP on track

THE massive reconstruction process of the southern Kruger National Park (KNP) following the devastating floods during February and March this year is still under way and in some cases, ahead of schedule, with the old Skukuza Restaurant having been reopened late last week.
According to KNP's public relations officer, William Mabasa, the river view chalets at Skukuza, currently being upgraded as luxury chalets, will open for bookings at the end of November.
"The most exciting happening at the park was a few weeks ago when ten of the eleven people evacuated from Shimwini Bushcamp earlier in the year arrived for the reopening of the newly renovated camp."
According to Mabasa, the low-water bridge between Phalaborwa Gate and Mopane Camp is still under construction and should be completed by December.
