SAA objects to BB2 Thando’s comments

SOUTH African Airways (SAA) has announced that it strongly objects to recent utterances about the airline made by Big Brother housemate Thando Mikize and that it has asked its legal department for advice on what steps to take against her. Mikize, an ex SAA employee, apparently made comments in the house on Thursday suggesting that the carrier overlooked cabin crew drinking alcohol on flights. SAA has emphasised that its passengers’ safety is of utmost importance and the consumption of alcohol by staff during duty time is clearly forbidden in the airline’s employment conditions. In addition, SAA staff are not allowed to be found intoxicated within a 12-hour period preceding duty, as well as after working hours while they are still in their uniforms. Employees failing to abide by these rules are reportedly dealt with severely. (Heather Ruddock)
