Safari operators introduce conservation and community levy

TOUR operators in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley plan to introduce a ‘Conservation and Community Levy’ to their rates.

This voluntary fee will be added to invoices and the funds will be split evenly between conservation and community projects, including working with the South Luangwa Conservation Society and North Luangwa Conservation Project.

Fees are $10 (R75) pppn on rates over US$300 (R2 274), $5 (R37) pppn on rates under $299 (R2 266) and $1 (R7) pppn for campers.

Luangwa operators involved are Bushcamp Company and Mfuwe Lodge, Flatdogs, Kafunta, Shenton Safaris, Remote Africa Safaris, Robin Pope Safaris and Wildlife Camp.
