MOSSEL Bay played host to the 37th annual Southern African Tourism Service Association (Satsa) AGM this past weekend. Themed ‘Satsa means business’, the event saw stakeholders come together to discuss, among others, seasonality, the business tourism sector and causes, such as the fight against crime and interventions in tourism transport. The organisation also appointed a new executive committee, as well as a new president, Cheryl Mulder-Verbruggen. Michael Tatalias remains as acting ceo until the end of the year when a permanent ceo will be appointed. Highlights during the weekend AGM include a presentation by First National Bank economist, Cees Bruggemans, and University of Westminster business tourism professor, Rob Davidson, who spoke about future trends, opportunities and challenges in the sector. Delegates were also treated to a gala dinner at the Dias Museum and a beach party to showcase Mossel Bay’s hospitality. Highlights of the event will be available later this week as a webcast on demand over the Internet. Produced by TNN's associate service Now Media Webcasting, the link to the webcast will be given on TNN's daily news. Natalia Thomson (nataliat@nowmedia.co.za)
