Shingwedzi Rest Camp in Kruger National Park (KNP) will reopen to the public on March 6 following January’s severe floods.
Access to the camp is currently only from the Punda Maria and Pafuri gates.
Other infrastructure restoration updates at KNP include:
- Repairs underway at the approach of the Letaba high water bridge, which connects the tar road between Mopani and Letaba Rest Camp.
- Other camps situated in the north of the park have reopened including Punda Maria Rest Camp, Bateleur Bush Camp and Mopani Rest Camp (partially open), which are also accessible via the Punda Maria and Pafuri gates. Olifants Rest Camp, accessible via Phalaborwa Gate, has also reopened.
- Talamati Bush Camp is now inaccessible following heavy rainfall on March 2. Guests were directed to other camps in the park.
