Songo targeted for tourism development

Plans are underway to develop a tourism master plan for Songo in Mozambique’s Tete province with consultants invited to help identify tourism opportunities and guide future infrastructure development.

According to MozParks, the process is being overseen by the majority state-owned hydroelectric power plant company Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa.

“Despite its significant tourism potential, the local tourism sector is still at an early stage of development, requiring a structured, integrated and sustainable approach,” the notice is said to have stated.

“The absence of a guiding plan has limited the proper valorisation of existing natural, cultural and infrastructural resources as well as the attraction of investment and the development of a local tourism value chain.”
