The third Sports & Events Tourism Exchange (SETE) will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre from October 22 – 24.
The conference and exhibition will provide sports and tourism industries with a platform to showcase their product offerings to international hosted buyers and SA corporates specialising in sports and tourism.
This year, the conference will debate key issues affecting the growth of the industry not just in SA but on the continent. Topics will include the possibility of SA hosting the next Summer Olympic Games and/or the Commonwealth Games; the role that local government should be playing in supporting major events; and the need to work together as a continent to host international events. Speakers include Mayor of Durban James Nxumalo, Mike Tsotetsi, CATHSSETA CEO and Gideon Sam, SASCOC President.
“It is important that industry players participate in the exchange as they will be able to network with other SA Corporates in the industry and meet with international hosted buyers who are interested in bringing their business or sport events to South Africa,” said Sugen Pillay, Business Development Director, Thebe Exhibitions and Projects.
The exchange is hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism, partnered by CATHSSETA, SASCOC, Tourism KZN, Durban Tourism and Tsogo Sun.
