This week’s poll: Choo-Tjoe revival a possibility?

Before the floods of 2006, the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe  steam train attracted up to 150 000 rail enthusiasts from around the world to the Garden Route every year, generating about R10 million a year in ticket sales alone and tens of millions more in general tourist revenue.

Despite calls for its restoration, owners Transnet, insisted last week that someone else would have to come up with the R150 million required to repair the flood-damaged rail infrastructure. What do you think? Let us know by voting in this week’s poll or adding your comment below.

Last week’s poll: To e-tag or not to e-tag

An overwhelming 93% of respondents said that they did not plan to register their vehicle for an e-tag. 6% said that they are undecided and only one respondent had already registered his/her vehicle for an e-tag.
