TripAdvisor has recognised 25 African hotels – including several southern and East African properties – in its 2020 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best list.
The accolades are based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by COVID-19, and winners are among the top 1% of all listings on TripAdvisor.
The four South African properties ranked on the list are The Oyster Box in Umhlanga, Kapama River Lodge in the Kruger Park area, The Peech Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg, and the Cape Grace in Cape Town.
The Fairmont Mara Safari Club in the Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the three hotels in Kenya featured on the list. Tanzania featured with two Zanzibar properties, and in the Seychelles, Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas and one other hotel took the accolade.
The destination with the most hotels ranked was Mauritius, with eight of its properties featured on the list.
Overall, southern and East African hotels dominated the list with only six out of the 25 winners being from North and West Africa.
