UK here we come!

CAPE Metropolitan Tourism's Travel Weekly campaign, which has aggressively marketed Cape Town to travel agents in the USA through the leading travel publication in that country, is soon to be doing the same to travel agents in the UK.
The campaign, which comprises a series of educational 'Seminars in Print', was run for the first time in 2000, and will now run in both the USA and UK Travel Weekly publications throughout 2001.
Rick Taylor, CMT ceo, said reports that the US campaign proved so popular, that Travel Weekly in the UK requested a similar campaign for British travel agents.
"Our recent research has shown that over 27% of international tourists visiting the Cape Town region during the Secret Season (March to October) last year were from the UK a number which, according to Tourism Intelligence International, is forecast to grow to some 500,000 UK visitors by 2005."
The UK campaign is being supported by various partners, including the Table Mountain Cableway Company, the Mount Nelson Hotel, the Cape Grace, South African Airways, Avis, American Express, Welcome Tours and Cape Town International Airport. We are hoping that more partners will come on board for the campaign in future."
