Viceroy Hotels enters Africa’s safari market

Viceroy Hotels has expanded into Africa with the acquisition of three luxury safari lodges in Zambia and Botswana. Managed by African Bush Camps, the properties mark the brand’s move into nature-based, experiential travel.

The lodges include:

  • Thorntree River Lodge, A Viceroy Resort, in Zambia
  • Lolebezi, A Viceroy Resort, in Zambia
  • Atzaró Okavango Camp, A Viceroy Resort, in Botswana

Each features contemporary design integrated into its natural setting with lodge-specific activities aligned to the surrounding landscapes.

Located on the Zambezi River in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Thorntree River Lodge offers access to Victoria Falls, rhino tracking on foot, river cruises and guided excursions. The lodge includes eight luxury suites and two family suites – all with private plunge pools and indoor and outdoor bathrooms alongside a spa, swimming pool, lounge, library and gift shop.

Lolebezi, set on five hectares of protected riverfront in the Lower Zambezi, offers four luxury suites, a family suite and an exclusive-use villa – all with private plunge pools and air-conditioning. Activities include walking safaris, canoeing, boat excursions, game drives and seasonal birding. Facilities include a swimming pool, spa, yoga deck, open-air cinema, boma and gift shop.

Atzaró Okavango Camp in the Okavango Delta features eight luxury suites, a family suite and an exclusive-use villa – each with private plunge pools and views of the river or delta. Guests can experience walking safaris, mokoro excursions and day-to-night game drives. On-site amenities include a wellness spa, swimming pool, yoga deck, elevated viewing deck, dining and bar areas, boma and gift shop.
