NAMIBIA’S capital, Windhoek, will host the first International Conference on Air Transport and Tourism. The conference, which is organised jointly by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) and the Africa Commission for Civil Aviation, will take place on May 30-31 this year. Topics to be covered will include ‘structural changes in the air transport market and their effects on tourism development’ and ‘the constraints on air transport in Africa and the repercussions for the tourism industry’. The conference will be preceded by the 36th meeting of the WTO Commission for Africa on May 28, also held in Windhoek. At present Africa only receives 2,5% of global international tourists.
