The disciplinary matter involving suspended SA Tourism CEO Nombulelo Guliwe will now be taken forward by the newly appointed SA Tourism Board, Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille told Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Tourism.
In the Committee meeting on August 25, members repeatedly questioned the status of Guliwe’s disciplinary process and called for a definitive timeline for its conclusion.
De Lille told Tourism Update that the previous interim Board was unable to conclude the matter.
“Unfortunately, the Board appointed in the interim could not finalise the matter. The new Board will now have to determine the way forward,” she said.
During the committee meeting, De Lille said the former interim Board completed its disciplinary process involving Guliwe and submitted several options to her. She said she considered the options, transcripts and supporting documentation before sending her decision and recommendations back to the interim Board.
However, with the interim Board unable to finalise the matter, responsibility has now shifted to the newly appointed 11-member SA Tourism Board.
The incoming Board is due to be inducted on September 4.
